Dec. 5th, - the day before the full moon and St. Nikolas Day. The sale mentioned in the last post and as well as a good sale in the gallery the day after I created the post, got us beyond paying the rent. Thanks to those collectors who responded. I truely appreciate your support and also of course, your help in getting work out into private collections. My main focus at the moment is to sell at least a couple of David Rogers paintings. As I sit in the gallery I study his Abstracts as the sun illuminates them in it's (appearent) movement over our NM skies, in the morning indirect, and by afternoon illuminating them even more directly. They are really beautiful; and very modestly priced. David is a very fine painter and deserves a high level of collector support in Santa Fe and beyond. MS

An eventful summer so far.
I reconnected with an artist I have not seen since he was a teenager, David Rogers did his BA in Art History and worked at the Chicago Art Institute. He has a very accomplished body of work, both figurative, particularly portraits expressing both different moods, and personality types and abstract. A selection of his "Faces of Eve" will be featured during the next (Friday, July 25th, 5 - 7 pm at aSEA gallery 407 S. Guadalupe St. ) Railyard Artwalk. The grouping of Rogers' paintings make an exiting exhibit.
Background: David is the son of two successful, well known Painters: Peter Rogers and Carol Hurd [the daughter of Peter Hurd and Henriette Wyeth (sister of Andrew Wyeth and daughter of NC Wyeth.) So David is part of the 4th generation of painters of the Wyeth Family. His mother, Carol is a wonderful painter and dear friend of mine and i am so happy to have David Join the gallery. Later in the year we will do a full show of his work, both realistic and abstract.

We've been back from Europe a little over a week, enough time to recover from jet -lag, unpack, catch up with gallery business, gallery sit and get ready for the tourist season. So I can finally take time to write about the trip. Our main focus was the cruise from Amsterdam to Basil on the Rhine River. In past visits to Amsterdam we visited both the Rembrandt House and the Van Gogh Museum; we crossed the city to see the latter again, but lines of visiters were so long, we went to the beautiful park near by instead, where I enjoyed drawing the huge ancient trees. Having seen both artists so many times over 50 years, it was not a bad solution. I also skipped the Gerhard Richter exhibit outside Basil: it was very expensive and I don't agree that he is Germany's greatest painter as he is called (maybe all PR?); I saw a major exhibit in Hamburg a few years back and was not that exited. But I did discover a wonderful artist in Basil (actually from Munich) at an opening I just happened across in my wanderings. Friedrich Geier's paintings/drawings reminded my of the Australian Aborigines works, a similar all over design but with humans, animals, plants totally imbedded in the image; exquisite sense of color too. It would be wonderful to bring his work over here for a show. [to be continued]
